When Lights Collide Chapter 1
Cara sighed happily and sank deeper into the bubble-filled tub.
She was instantly grateful that she had wrecked the budget on the bathroom redesign when she decided to upgrade to a deep soaker tub, much to the frustrations of the designer and the contractor.
Cara grinned, remembering the manic banter of the design team, banter that all ended the second that she offered to pay the extra fees involved for upgrading to the new tub, and the structural upgrade necessary to ensure that the tub, when filled with water ~ and with Cara ~ would not end up in the basement.
“Worth every penny” Cara sighed as she sank even deeper into the almost too hot water, until just her face was visible amid the bubbles.
At 38, Cara Germaine was well known as a local psychic/medium, able to communicate with loved ones who had crossed over, able to converse, receive and translate messages from her Guardians (aka the Angels) to their intended loved ones and a revealer of hurts as well as a guide to aid those wished to heal from past hurts and traumas.
Cara, from the age of 3, knew that she was special, able to receive messages from the Divine Universe, aware that she knew things that other, “normal” kids did not know. She spent much of her life trying to hide it, as these ‘gifts’ only brought her pain and rejection.
Until she accepted that her abilities really were a gift, only then did she learn how to trust her abilities and share them with those who sought her assistance.
Gifts and abilities that Cara had utilized to facilitate her own healings as well.
When Cara finally realized that her gifts were indeed gifts, and not a curse, she began to embrace and trust the words, shapes, pictures, numbers and ideas that seemed to just pop into her head.
Cara has just turned 19 when she learned that she was a Light Worker, created with the dust of the stars and sparked to life by God’s loving hand.
Cara knew and believed, beyond any doubts or arguments, that she was an Earth Angel Light Worker, sent here by God to help heal His people from the hurts and traumas of this world.
As Cara soaked in the tub, her mind played her favourite meditation, and she focused on the sound of her heartbeat echoing in the water.
She had no idea how long she had been in the tub when her focus was interrupted by a sound that was out of sync with her heartbeat.
Her attention now refocused on the odd thumping sound that reverberated through the water… a thump, followed by another, then another…. Startled, Cara’s eyes flew open… footsteps!
Cara closed her eyes and focused on her Guardian Angels, she felt the words “Do not fear, we are with you” wash over her.
“Great,” Cara responded in her mind, “but you’re not the ones naked in a tub” she snickered, grateful that her Guardians understood her sense of humor.
Cara tried to relax, still submersed in her bubble bath, though now she noted that the water was much cooler as she began to list the options before her… she could get out of the tub, but judging from the sound of the footsteps, getting louder now, she’d not have time to grab her towel nor her housecoat and get it around her before she came face to face with her intruder.
“Or I could just stay in the tub” Cara shrugged and surrendered any hope of escaping her current circumstance, while hoping that there were still enough bubbles to cover her body.
“Stay in the tub and hope for the best” Cara sighed to herself, “always an adventure!”
Cara, eyes closed, tried to relax and focus on the footfalls, hoping the intruder would pass by the bathroom, take whatever they were looking for and leave.
She heard the footfalls stop just outside the bathroom door.
Then silence.
Cara attempted to silence her screaming thoughts and tried to focus solely upon the energy in the room. She knew someone had entered the room, a small breeze of cool air passed over her face, the only part of Cara (she hoped) visible in the bubbles.
Cara knew that the intruder was in the bathroom, she could feel a presence ~ male ~ and she now felt like she was being stared at.
Cara tried her best to remain calm, afterall, other than the surprise of having company, she felt no threat, no sense of danger, maybe he would realize that she was in the tub and leave….
In her attempt to pretend that she was oblivious to having uninvited company, Cara took a deep breath and slid under water, waited to the count of 3, then sat up, hoping that she was keeping everything below her shoulders, below the water.
As she exhaled and wiped water from her face, Cara tried to be inconspicuous using her peripheral vision… yup, she had company all right, and he was leaning against the door frame, watching her….
Cara closed her eyes, pretending that she was meditating, wondering if the guy leaning against her door frame was buying her act… she again heard the message from her Guardians “Do not fear, for we are with you”
She tried to meditate, for real this time, focusing all of her energy and senses on the stranger.
Still, Cara felt no threat, just the unsettling feeling that there was a stranger in her home, in her bathroom, while she was in the tub, “You just can’t make this stuff up Cara” she tried to joke with herself
Cara could feel the stranger's strength, his confidence and his sense of arrogant amusement in the current situation.
Now, focusing with her mundane senses, Cara decided he must be a biker, the residual steam in the room enhanced the smell of his leather vest, and the scent of exhaust fumes, unique to a motorcycle, mixed with a fresh air smell….
Yup, biker.
“Great…” Cara tried not to roll her eyes as she began connecting the dots, suddenly wishing she could actually physically kick herself.
Of course - a biker - she had led readings for new clients last week, and Cara was fairly certain one of them was sporting a property patch from the local MC.
She really wanted to kick herself now, of course a biker, nothing gets close to an MC without being ‘inspected’. Cara didn’t know nor understand much about Motorcycle Clubs, but she did know this much, if you got too close to an MC, or any of its ‘property’, you got checked out, and then you were either accepted or warned off…
She also knew that she still wasn't certain which would be worse… being accepted….
Or being warned off.
“Great, just what I need” Cara thought to herself as she sunk below the bubbles once more.
