When Lights Collide Chapter 28

Estelle leaned against the stove top and couldn’t help but smile.  Even if her two friends didn’t know it or see it, she could see it all.  She could see the future that these two would share and she could see how their lives to this point all conspired to bring them together.

She was nodding her head with a huge smile on her face as Daniel wrapped his arms around Cara and Cara wrapped her arms around Daniel.

Then her Guardians spoke, “this will take time and have many bumps along the way, but we are here and this IS their fate.”

Estelle smiled as she replied “mmmhhmm, I can see that, and you let me know anyway I can help these two, they deserve their happiness.”

She left them to their moment as she returned to the soup pot still on the stove, and began adding the few chopped veggies that her friends had started, then busied herself with preparing more veggies to add to the near empty soup pot.

Estelle was so involved in her own thoughts that she didn’t notice that her friends had noticed her carrying on with the soup creation without them, it was Daniel clearing his throat that brought her back from her thoughts.

“Oh, are you two ready to help now are you?” she teased as she glanced at Cara, who was trying to hide her blushing.

Both friends nodded as they took up their previous places and continued to slice and chop the additions to the soup.

As she made her way back to the stove, Estelle asked,

“So, I take it we are all good with the blue glowing light?” as she continued stirring the soup pot.

Daniel looked up and said “I think so, I mean, I don’t understand it, not fully, but if it was a gift that could help, it's good - right?”

“Yes baby, it's good.  A gift from God and All Divine is always good.”  She thought for a moment and then added

“As long as you always and only use it for good.” waving her spoon for good measure.

Daniel nodded in understanding before adding

“It seems I have a lot to learn about all of this, and how, exactly, do I learn - I mean - it doesn't seem like something you would apply to the nearest college for… is it?” he asked with a goofy look on his face as Cara looked up at him.

She could feel the warmth of endearment in her heart as she gazed at his face, like somehow a light had been turned on within her being and she shook her head and chuckled,

“No, this is not something that we learn in schools.  If anything, the whole purpose of the school system seems to be to stop kids from understanding and learning about their gifts and abilities.  We mostly learn from our Guardians and from trial and error.” She glanced at Estelle who was grinning from ear to ear,

“And we learn by spending time with others who are aware of their gifts and abilities.  It's a lot of open and deep honesty, asking the questions that you need answers to.”

Daniel nodded as he took in each word that Cara spoke, then a word she had used caught up to him, and he asked,

“Wait, what did you say about Guardians, how do I know if I have those?”

Cara knew that he honestly didn’t know, but the way he asked about the Guardians made her want to giggle, it was so cute.  Then she caught herself “ugh, get it together Cara, yes he’s cute, but that isn’t the main focus here.”

Then she paused and stared at Estelle,

“Wait, how does he have gifts, but no Guardians?”

Estelle raised an eyebrow as she considered the question,

“Hmm, that is a good question honey. Most I’ve known have had their Guardians before their gifts, but I have heard of it happening the other way around too.”  she paused as though considering something and then spun around to Daniel as she said,

“Wait, did you have gifts, like the blue light before the tree moment?”

Daniel took a moment to think things through and replied,

“Well, I have always had the ability to see in the dark, the darker it was the easier I could see, but I’ve never known myself to gl-” his thoughts cut off his words as his mind was busy trying to show him something.

Still clearly distracted by his thoughts and the visions in his mind, he began to speak again, this time as though explaining a moment, “but when I see in the darkness, it's always a bluish kinda light that I see, like everything glows with this blue light.  The light I see is blue, not the typical yellowy white that we normally see in the daytime.”

“And even though I didn’t consider it before, I guess I have always had the ability to know when I was lied to. Like I could see the wrong in the words that others spoke, does that make sense?  Is that even a thing?” he asked before he paused.

Cara knew that he was trying to make sense out of his thoughts and remained silent, she wondered if he would eventually get to the bigger question that she had been pondering her whole intuitive life.

Finally he smiled and looked around the room….

“Wait, how do we even know what the difference is between the normal everyday human experience and this new - but not new - gifted life?” he asked and then thought about what he asked in his mind, “Is that even a thing?”

Cara waved the knife that she had been using to chop veggies, “Right?!?  This has been my question!  If those of us who have gifts are born with gifts, how do we even know what ‘normal’ is?!”  She was so caught up in her excitement of the question she had no idea that she was still waving the knife around.

Daniel kept his eyes on the knife as he backed away while Estelle reached out and grabbed Cara’s hand and carefully removed the knife,

“Let me just hold that for you honey.” she giggled as Cara finally caught what she’d been doing,

“I think we have enough chopped up for now.” Estelle shook her head as she placed the knife in the sink.

“I think what we need to remember,” Estelle added, “Is that each and every human being on Earth is born with gifts and abilities, some of us become aware of them, some of us learn to strengthen them and others simply stay stuck in their own mundane and never understand how truly blessed they are, and let us not forget that generations of us who were aware of their gifts remained silent for fear of rejection or being burned at the stake.”

Daniel’s head spun to where Estelle was standing at the sink,

“You mean to say that we all come from witches?! Isn't that a little - I don’t know - NOT God and All Divine..?”

Estelle shook her head, “No, not at all. First up, our ancestors who were aware of their gifts and abilities and utilized them in their daily lives were labeled witches by those who either didn't have the capacity to be open minded and loving or by those who wanted to be the only ones in and of power.  Second, all gifts and abilities come from God and All Divine, it is the actions of the human carrying those gifts that determine whether they are healing or harmful.”

Daniel paused to consider her words,

“So, we are all born with gifts and abilities, it's just that some of us become aware of them and others don’t…?” he questioned.

“Exactly,” Estelle replied, “Some people just assume that the way they are is the way that they are, it never crosses their mind that they could be so blessed by God and All Divine as to carry these gifts and abilities, not to mention that the church has declared that anyone with these gifts and abilities are considered sinners, and outside the love of God.  Which is really silly when you think about it, I mean really, why would we have these gifts and abilities if they didn’t come from our source of creation, our God?”

Daniel was listening to every word, considering it against what he believed to be his truth of his life thus far, and chuckled,

“Well, this explains why Grams always said ‘take that with a grain of salt’ everytime we left church..  I had no idea that the church held so much contempt for those who opened to receive the full blessing of who they are…”  He stared off into space as though thinking through all the things that he had ever known in his life…

“Wow, all of this changes everything..”

Cara smiled,

“Now you’re getting it.  Opening to the full understanding of who we are in full bloom of the gifts of God and All Divine creates a ripple effect across the whole of our lives to this point, it changes everything.  From the way we think, to what we believe and how we act, everything changes.”

Daniel was lost in deep thought, but muttered,

“It changes everything…”
