When Lights Collide Chapter 24

After a brief moment of silence as everyone gathered their thoughts, Cara replied “you were allowed entry because you have a pure heart, because you meant me no harm, and are not capable of hate.” she spoke boldly and bravely, hoping that he would not allow his fear to overcome the moment.

Daniel could only look at Cara as her words flowed through his mind, and something he couldn't quite put his finger on, nor his words to, flowed through his body.

He noted that he was beginning to feel warm in places that hadn’t felt warm in a long time.

Estelle, with her Guardians dancing all around her senses, looked at Daniel and said “I need you to come with me.” as she rose from her chair and headed for the back door.

Realizing this wasn’t actually a question and more of a command, Daniel glanced once more at Cara as he stood and followed Estelle.  He met her inside the back door, a slider that, when opened, would put them in the very back yard space where he had been knocked down by the dark shadowy thing only hours previous.

His body betrayed the memory with a little shiver, and as Estelle looked up at him, he took a deep breath and said, “Ok, I’m here, what do you need?”

Estelle smiled, “Thank you, I need you to look into the shadows and tell me what you see, if anything.”

“Is this like a test?” he asked, “for you to see how my vision works?”

“That depends, does it being a test make it easier for you to see into the shadows?” she asked, and Daniel realized she wasn’t playing around, this woman was serious.

“No,” he stated, “it's actually easier if I can just look around, naturally, without pressure or expectation.”

“Good,” Estelle replied, “because this is not a test, I just want to know if you can see anything out there in the shadows, I thought I saw something earlier, but then I thought I might be imagining things,” she weaved a white lie into the truth,

“Help an old lady out will ya, and put my mind at ease.”

“Huh, my Grams used to say the same exact thing to me when I was a boy,” he said passively as he looked around the back yard, paying keen attention to the shadows as he did.

A wave of something caught his attention in the corner of the backyard, not far from the kitchen window,

“huh, there’s a wave of something over by the kitchen window, amongst the plants” he replied, while still trying to focus in on it.

“What do you mean by ‘wave’, like the waves of water as they hit the shore?”

Estelle asked, her eyes closed, trying to allow herself to see what Daniel was seeing through their combined energy fields.

“No, more like a heat mirage wave, like you see on the roads in the summertime, like you can see the heatwave rise up from the hot asphalt when you’re riding.” he answered and Estelle could plainly see what he was explaining and she turned to the area that he was facing.

“Is it still there?” she asked, her eyes now open, trying to see what he could see.

“Yes, it's dark though, there’s no light to it at all.  It looks like it's getting smaller…no, not smaller, farther away, it's moving, like it knows we can see it.” Daniel’s head snapped to Estelle’s direction, “What is that?” he asked, the shock of his sight as clear as day on his face.

Estelle smiled, “When you were little and could see these things in the shadows, what did they look like?” she asked.

Daniel thought for a moment, “Mostly they were light, sometimes colors, like red, yellow or purple, but usually just like a white light.  Once in a while, I would only see the wave, no color at all, and definitely no movement like this one,” he explained as he gestured to where he had spotted the wave,

“What is that?” he again asked.

Estelle nodded her understanding, “Well dear, that,” she pointed to where Daniel had been looking, “was fear.  Fear doesn’t like to be noticed, fear likes things to always stay the same, fear knows that once it is seen, then it has to be changed.  So it fights to hold us in its grasp so that it never has to change or go away.”

Daniel nodded, doing his best to keep up with her words and to try and understand what was happening.

“Ok, but why is fear so afraid of being seen tonight?  I’m not changing anything….am I?” he asked as he turned to look at Estelle.

“Aren’t you?” she asked in response, her eyebrows raised.

“Tell me, are you the same cocky, macho biker man that walked into our lives yesterday?” she smiled.

“Well, yea, I mean, I’m still me,” he continued to look at Estelle, “ain’t I?”

Estelle smiled, “Yes, you are, but you are also changing, or more appropriately to say, that you are healing.  Those hurts that hung on your heart like heavy curtains, they are clearing away, that warmth that you said you felt earlier, isn’t that new?” she asked, tipping her head to the side to better ‘hear’ his energy speak.

Daniel turned and looked back at the chair he was previously seated in, thinking about the feeling that he felt flow through him as Cara touched his hand.  Then he looked at Cara, “was that you?” he asked, confusion once again making itself obvious upon his face.

“Was it me what?” Cara asked, as though she had just tuned into the conversation and had not been listening to him and Estelle speaking.

“What is it you think was me?” she asked.

Daniel looked as though he was trying to look through Cara as he asked “that feeling of warmth that I felt earlier, was that you? Did you make that feeling happen inside of me?  Wait,” he paused as he looked to Estelle and then back to Cara,

“Is that even possible?”

Estelle smiled, “honey, in case you missed the memo, anything is possible around here, but no, that warm feeling you felt was not Cara, not completely.  She could not do that on her own, our free will commands that we must permit, or allow, anything that we are given, we must accept it for ourselves freely, no matter what or how it is given, we must either accept or deny it of our own freewill.” She paused waiting for the words to settle into Daniel’s understanding before she added,

“Cara could send you that warmth, but you had to allow yourself to accept it before you could feel it in your body.  Only you could allow the flow to continue its flow.” again she paused to allow him space to think.

He turned to Cara, “but you didn’t ask me anything.”  he stated. Cara smiled, “it's not that kind of ask and accept situation sunshine.  It’s not a conscious, ‘we are in control’ kind of ask and allow, it's more a subconscious thing, our soul has the final say.”

“No taunting.” her Guardians scolded Cara, “you know he is new to this, be kind.”

Cara sighed, “I’m sorry,” she said to Daniel, “I forget this is all new to you, I don’t mean to be so blunt, it's just kinda who I am.” she admitted sheepishly.

Daniel was nodding his head, and both women could see that he was trying to work out all that they had shared with him, so they let the silence grow as they waited for him to guide the conversation forward.

“So, just to get my mind onto the same page as ya’all, and please, stop me if I mess this up,” he raised his hand in a half surrender as he moved to seat himself in his chair, “but you’re telling me that I am like you both, and that you two are Angels, and that makes me an Angel and that shadow thingy is here because I’m afraid to change who I am and because I have fear stuck with me from my childhood.” he paused and regarded both women as he went on to add, “and that my Grams voice is louder because I entered sacred ground, and that the whispery voice is part of the fear, but wait, that doesn't explain the thing that tried to eat me in the backyard does it?”

Both women smiled as Daniel finished his statement.

Estelle was the first to speak, noting to herself that Cara was working through some sort of fear moment of her own, but would get to that in a moment, she looked Daniel in his eyes, and saw that the previous confusion was now calming itself into curiosity,

“Yes, and no.” Estelle began,

“Yes to the fact that we are all Angels, yes to the fact that you entered sacred ground and yes to your Grams coming through loud and clear.”  she took a breath,

“No, the shadowy thingy isn’t here as a result of you changing and healing, that fear thingy is here to stop you from stepping into your calling as an Earth Angel.” she paused to take a sip of her coffee before continuing to explain herself,

“You see, fear is also a tool of the darkness.  It has the ability, if we let it, to keep us frozen in the tracks of life without ever knowing our true self.  The darkness likes the dark, which is where fear resides, in the darkness of the unknown.  We can either allow fear to take us over ~ which is what was happening in the backyard when the darkness knocked you down, or we can fight against it.  You chose to fight against it, which is what caused it to flee to the shadows for safety.  Now, that fear is waiting to see if it can still reside within you, its waiting to see what you choose, because if you choose to embrace who you are and move forward, the fear dissipates and goes elsewhere, if you choose to go back to being the cocky, biker dude who first arrived here hours ago, then that fear has a place to live within you.”  Estelle shrugged.

“So, the choice continues to be yours honey, what do you choose?”

Daniel sat staring at Estelle, then turned his head to stare at Cara, then back to Estelle, trying to determine if they were pulling his leg or if they were being legit.  He saw nothing that would indicate that they were teasing him or putting him on.

He leaned back in his chair, now staring at his coffee mug which sat empty in front of him, allowing all the information that he had just received to flow through his mind.

“Ok, so I can accept the warm feelings without knowing it, but I have to choose about the fear thing on purpose?” he asked, feeling a little goofy.

“Exactly.” said Estelle, as he looked at her, she continued to speak, “fear is a choice, love is well, love.  It's harmless and it is good for us, our soul automatically accepts it as that is where we come from, love.  Fear comes from the opposite of love, and that is why we have to choose it on purpose.”

“So the fear in the backyard tried to take hold of me because it was afraid I would choose love?” Daniel asked incredulously.

Estelle smiled so big that Daniel could feel the love warming him, “Precisely.” she replied.

“Huh, imagine that,” he said, while still thinking through all that she had shared with him.

He looked up at both women, “so, what do we do now?”
