When Lights Collide Chapter 23
Estelle sat smiling at her loved ones sound asleep in her living room as she rose to make more coffee.
Standing in her kitchen, waiting patiently for the coffee to brew, she looked out her window with gratitude for the beautiful flowers and plants that grew happily in her backyard.
She shifted her glance to the Heavens and offered a prayer of thanks and added, “you do good works”.
As Estelle took a final look out her window before turning to pour her coffee, a slight movement in the shadows caught her attention. Yet when she stopped to take a better look, she could see nothing obvious.
Yet, her Guardians stirred, “be wary, the shadows hide the fear~things.”
Estelle paused and tried to strengthen her connection as she asked “what fear things? Are we in danger?”
But her Guardians did not reply.
As she took final good look around her backyard, paying special attention to the shadows, she noticed nothing to be wary of, yet she could feel the icy touch of fear building within her.
Footsteps behind her had Estelle spinning around, grabbing the spoon from the counter as she turned in the direction of the sounds getting closer behind her.
Cara stood, hands raised in surrender, giggling “Oh no, please, not the spoon!” she snickered, until she felt the cool disruption in Estelle’s energy.
“What's wrong?” she asked, “why are you afraid?”
Estelle paused for a moment then smiled, trying to shake off the feelings that had caught her attention, she replied,
“I’m fine.”
Cara noted that Estelle refused to make eye contact and a niggling feeling began to tickle at the base of Cara’s head.
She took a deeper look at Estelle, “I’m not buying it.” she said, crossing her arms across her chest,
“seriously hun, what’s going on?”
Estelle sighed and leaned against the counter, “I’m not sure, just some feeling…” her words faded off as she tried to reconnect with the feelings she’d had in hopes of explaining herself to Cara.
“There’s fear here.” Cara’s Guardians whispered.
Cara looked to Estelle, “what fear is here?”
Estelle looked deep in thought, “I was looking out the window, and I thought that something moved in the shadows, but when I tried to focus in on it, I couldn't see it nor feel it, then my Guardians warned me about the “fear~things in the shadows”. Estelle explained.
“And they just told me that “fear is here.” Cara stated, “sounds like it's time for us to prepare.”
“Prepare what?” Estelle asked, “this is fear and fear can only be depleted with love and faith, which you and I have in buckets, so, how and why would fear be so near us now?”
Both women were so deep in thought, seeking the answers to their questions, until they simultaneously stopped and looked at each other.
“Daniel.” they stated in unison.
“What about me?” Daniel asked from the kitchen doorway.
Both women jumped, which brought a small smile to Daniel’s face, until he noticed that the women were not their usual happy selves.
“What’s going on?” he asked, “Is something wrong?”
Estelle and Cara shared a look before turning toward Daniel, and taking a deep breath, Cara squared her shoulders and said,
“We need to know what you are scared of.”
Daniel froze briefly before making light of the question,
“me? Afraid? You must be joking..”
Estelle spoke now, walking toward Daniel she countered,
“this is no time for jokes Daniel, something is happening that we don’t yet fully understand, but you are the only change in our lives to this moment, so we need you to be fully open and honest with us. It's the only way we can fix this and protect ourselves.”
Daniel stood still, staring from one woman to the other and Cara could feel his defenses building,
“Daniel, you've done nothing wrong, and we are not blaming you, but you hold vital information that can help us to help you, please, what are you afraid of?” she asked as calmly and lovingly as possible.
He started to step back, away from the women, Cara caught the feeling of the need to run, and she herself, took a step back from him.
She looked to Estelle and was grateful to notice that she had caught the vibe as well, as she returned to the coffeemaker to set herself about making coffee for the three of them.
When the women backed off from focusing on him, Daniel felt himself relax, he felt like he could breathe again, but their questions left him feeling raw and a little concerned for what this day would hold.
He tried to find a reason to leave, surely he had many and by now, his brothers from the club would be looking for him.
Daniel was actually surprised that they hadn’t been blowing up his phone already.
But, aside from the club, he could think of no valid reason to leave and instead, he sank into thinking through an honest answer to their questions, as he heard his Grams voice replaying in his mind “trust these women, I sent them to help you…”
Daniel took a deep breath and moved to sit at the dining room table as Estelle and Cara brought their coffees to join him as well as a coffee for Daniel.
As he nodded his thanks, he looked from one woman to the other and asked,
“Ok, so, if I hold the answers, how do we get to them?”
Both women smiled in relief and appreciation, as Cara spoke first “Thank you Daniel.”
Daniel nodded in acceptance of her words as Estelle spoke “we need to get to the root of your fears, which typically are set in our childhood, are you willing to talk about your childhood Daniel?”
His mind began to run through all the possible topics of his childhood that might need to be discussed and a wave of fear flowed through him.
Cara reached out from across the table and placed her hand over his, “it’s ok Daniel, we are here to help you, for support, we are not here to judge you or anything that happened in your past. We just need to get to the root of the fear so that we can fight against it.” she stated while looking him straight in his eyes.
Daniel nodded his understanding, and as he inhaled deeply, he felt a wave of warmth pass through his body. He jumped back a bit as he looked to Estelle and asked, “and what was that?”
Estelle looked a little cautious as she asked “what was what baby?”
“That, that wave, that warmth…I’ve never felt that before, what is it?”
Estelle tuned in and scanned Daniel, his body’s energy centers, his hand still with Cara’s over it, and smiled.
She could see the pink/red flow of caring love energy moving from Cara’s hand to Daniel’s, what he was feeling was a true and genuine love ~ agape ~ that held no judgements nor obligations.
It instantly warmed her own heart to know that Cara was able to share these loving feelings toward anyone, let alone a man, and Estelle was especially grateful that it was able to happen now.
“But how will Daniel feel about this?” she asked her Guardians, uncertain if they would answer.
“He has all the answers, ask about what happened at Cara’s house” was the only reply that came as a vision of Daniel standing in Cara’s bathroom doorway flashed through her mind.
Estelle questioned their answer, and was just as surprised as the others that she had asked aloud,
“what happened at Cara’s house, with the bathroom?”
Cara and Daniel stared at Estelle and both started answering at once, both so scared and embarrassed that she could hear nothing because the fear in their energy was blinding her…
“Ok, ok, ok,” Estelle stated with her hands raised in ceasefire mode, “one at a time, and I’m sorry Cara, but this is Daniel’s story to tell.”
“But it happened in my house!” Cara exclaimed.
“Yes honey, it did,” Estelle replied lovingly, but it happened to Daniel.” She turned to look at Daniel, “Is that right? Did something happen at Cara’s, specifically involving the bathroom?” she asked pointedly.
Daniel turned his attention to Cara, and then to the coffee mug in his hand. Estelle wasn’t certain that he would answer, then he looked up and sighed heavily,
“Yes, something did happen, but I don’t know exactly what it was. I was standing in the office, I had just finished going through the house,” he looked at Cara “sorry about that, by the way.”
He took another deep breath and exhaled completely before continuing, “when I suddenly heard a whisper from somewhere and I felt like something had taken me over, like I wasn’t in charge of my nor my body…. That doesn’t even make sense, does it?” He looked to Estelle, and instantly she could see the little boy in him seeking approval and forgiveness, wanting only to be the ‘good boy’ that he was born to be.
Cara spoke first, “It’s ok, I understand that it needed to be done, it was your job, it’s all good.” she nodded as if to affirm her own statement.
Then Estelle interrupted, “we need to focus here folks, Daniel, can you explain the voice and the feeling of not being in control?”
He nodded in response, “Yea, I mean, I’ll try.”
Daniel closed his eyes and tried to remember back to that moment while he stood in the doorway to Cara’s office,
“the voice was literally a whisper, and when I looked around, and looked into the shadows, there was literally no one there, it was almost as though the voice came from inside me, but I didn’t say anything. Then again, I didn’t notice that I’d opened the bathroom door until it was already open, so there’s that.” he replied sheepishly, opening his eyes to look at Cara “sorry about that too.” as he leaned forward and placed his hand over hers that was still over his.
Cara nodded her understanding and as she looked at Daniel, she felt a melting sensation in her own heart, and smiled as a single teardrop made its way down her cheek.
Daniel tipped his head to look at the tear and was about to comment when Estelle interrupted again, “what do you mean you saw nothing in the shadows, they are shadows, how could you see into the shadows?”
With a sheepish look on his face Daniel replied “I’ve got some sort of dark vision, I guess kinda like cats, I can see through the darkness, no lights required.”
It was Estelle’s turn to tilt her head to get a better view of Daniel as she focused on his words, “Then what happened, was there anything else?” she asked as a vision of Daniel being attacked by the shadowy thing in the backyard flashed through her mind.
“Ok guys, one thing at a time here.” she replied to her Guardians.
“Well, no, not really, except the voice thing happened again while I was in the bathroom and my Grams voice was coming through loud and clear, ever since I set foot in your house.” he stated as he looked at Cara, “what is it with your house that all of this is happening to me?” he asked as he sat upright, removing his hands from Cara’s, and she immediately flinched as the cool air touched her skin where his hands had previously been. She quickly folded them together in her lap, feeling scolded by his questions.
Estelle reclaimed the conversation, “Cara’s house is sacred ground. It has been blessed through centuries of owners, once upon a time, it was an underground type of place for blessings and prayers.”
She paused to give Daniel and Cara a chance to either add to or question her statement, and Daniel did not disappoint, “you mean her house used to be a church?” he asked, his curiosity making itself showing itself plainly.
Estelle nodded, “Yes, I guess you could call it that. We also consider it hallowed ground.” she replied, and again waited.
“Ok, but how and why would that affect me in any way?” Daniel asked.
“Because the sacred and hallowed means that you should not have been there, should not have been allowed admittance, but yet, you were.” Cara replied quietly, hoping to convey the special honor that it represented that Daniel would be allowed entry to her home, even if he broke in through a window.
“So, what was supposed to happen? Why would I be allowed to enter? What makes me so special?” Daniel was at the edge of understanding, and finally, just let his questions fly.
He glanced between Cara and Estelle, “What makes me so special that me, of all people, would be allowed entry upon sacred ground?”
