When Lights Collide Chapter 12

Daniel stood, staring into the shadows across the street, trying to make out the image that he had noticed as the car went by.  The awareness of how obvious his actions were was beginning to urge him into the shadows as well, like some unseen force was pulling him across the street, toward the figure he’d noticed only seconds earlier.

The Other voice, the one that Daniel had heard in his mind for years, the one that had led him into Cara’s bathroom earlier this evening, began to whisper to him, egging him along…

“That’s right, come this way, we need to talk…” the Other voice slithered through Daniel’s thoughts, but this time, Daniel noticed one significant difference…

The closer he got to the figure in the shadows, the heavier and thicker Daniel felt.  Like he was moving through some sort of tar-pit of sludge and with every step closer he got, the worse he felt.

Finally, he just stopped moving all together.

“You're almost here…don’t stop now, just a little –” but the voice was cut off as a blaring car horn interrupted Daniel’s unseen trance as the headlights blinded him.

Daniel jumped back just in time to avoid being hit by the previously unnoticed truck that was racing toward him. “What the f—!” He started to yell at the truck and its driver, when he finally noticed that he was standing in the middle of the road.

Grams began talking to him again “honey, you turn yourself around right now, and get back in that house! Go!” Daniel hadn’t heard Grams yell at him like that since the time he tried to hammer a nail in an electrical outlet, when he was 5.

“Damn! What is wrong with me?” Daniel asked no one in particular as he shook his head, turned around and began walking back to the house he’d exited only moments earlier.

Cara and Estelle were seated facing one another, with their hands together, yet barely touching.  Estelle explained “this is not normally how I like to share a Reiki session, but tonight, this will do just as well.”

They sat facing each other, feet placed firmly on the floor, both grounded in this present moment.  Cara extended her hands, palms facing down toward Estelle.

Estelle placed her hands, palms facing up, under Cara’s hands.

Estelle closed her eyes and tuned into her Guardians, “please be with us, oversee this energy exchange, assist us in releasing this pain, exchange the old for the new, allow for love and grace to flow through.”

She opened her eyes and looked at Cara, ensuring that she was ready and connected to her own Guardians as well.

Cara closed her eyes and spoke to her own Guardians.  “This pain I share and release, take it from me please, that love and grace would be at home within me and my heart and soul would be at peace.”

Cara opened her eyes and looked at Estelle, and in unison, they nodded at one another.  It was time to begin.

As they both closed their eyes to keep their focus in and on this moment in time, Estelle guided Cara, “Think back to the night that we met, you were seated next to a bonfire at the beach.  You were alone when I saw you, and I sat down beside you…. “

“You need only recall the feelings that you felt that night, you are safe right here in the present with me, those feelings are in the past, allow them to flow freely from you and out through your palms.”

Cara opened to the memories of that long ago night.  When the feelings of shame, grief, shock and sadness made their presence known, she thanked them for their awareness and guided them out of the palms of her hands and into the waiting hands of Estelle, still seated across from her.

Estelle, eyes still closed, smiled as she felt the emotional energy of the old feelings lay in her Divinely protected hands.  She thanked the old feelings for leaving her dear friend, and allowed her own Divine flow of love, grace and compassion to envelope the old feelings, curing them, and transmuting them into love and grace. Her smile deepened as she felt the old emotional energy morph into love and light as it floated away from their hands.

Cara could feel the tears of relief and forgiveness run down her cheeks as she allowed the events of that long ago and devastating night to run its course through her mind.  Any time an old or pain filled emotion would make itself known, she would thank it and guide it out through her own hands and into the awaiting love filled hands of Estelle, who would then embrace it and release it.

When Cara could feel no more old emotions, when the memories had run their course, she simply sat, and allowed the love of God and All Divine to wash through her.

Estelle knew the session was complete when in her own hands, she felt Cara’s emotional energy change, and she smiled deeply and gratefully as she allowed a greater flow of Divine love to flow through her hands and to Cara.

Cara smiled happily and freely and as the tears on her cheeks changed from tears of sadness to tears of relief and happiness, she knew also that the session was complete.  She raised her head, opened her eyes and smiled at Estelle.  When Estelle looked up at Cara and their eyes met, Cara whispered, “thank you Estelle, thank you God and All Divine, Thank you Guardians, all is well.”

Estelle could only smile and hug Cara tightly as she in turn whispered, “Amen.”

Daniel had reached the front steps leading up to the front porch when he felt a cold inky feeling touch the back of his neck.  He spun around, fists up ready to slug whatever had been sneaking up behind him, but there was no one.

At almost 6 feet tall, well toned from a regular exercise routine, and thanks to his experiences with the MC, there wasn’t much of anything that could ever scare Daniel… he was more likely to cause fear than be the recipient of it… yet, when he turned around ready to swing only to realize that there was nothing and no one there.. Daniel began to feel a little on edge, and although he would never admit it, he also began to feel a sliver of fear run through his chest.

“It's ok honey, you’re safe, I got you.” his Grams whispered in his head.  “Just go back in the house.”

Daniel continued on, up the steps, across the front porch, and was reaching for the door handle when he felt that cold inky feeling again on his neck.  Again, he turned, ready to swing, and again, there was nothing there.

He shook his head, repeated to himself that he must be losing his mind and turned to open the door.

As he reached out for the door knob, Daniel heard the click as the door unlatched itself and opened.  He stood staring at it in disbelief, but only for a split second as Grams raised her voice to him again “GO!”

Daniel quick~scooted through the doorway, and barely got himself inside before the door slammed shut behind him, making him jump ~ “slightly.” he noted to himself, “I’m no scaredy cat!”

He was still standing and staring at the door as Cara and Estelle quietly rounded the corner.

He looked up from the door to find them both staring at him, and he jumped again, making the women giggle… he knew embarrassment was coloring his cheeks a pretty shade of red, he also knew there was nothing he could do to stop it.

Daniel shrugged his shoulders, and mumbled.. “You, um, your door… you might want to get it checked, it seems to slam itself a lot.”  He looked back to the door as if it might open and hit him as he turned to walk across the entryway and into the kitchen.

Cara and Estelle looked at each other, trying desperately to hold back the laughter as the giggles were tickled at them from within.

“I’ll explain it to him,” Estelle said, then with a wink added “maybe.” as she followed behind Daniel and into the kitchen.

Cara shook her head as she giggled her way along the path her friends had taken, she was wondering about food as she passed the stove and noted the time.  It was 12:12 am.
