When Lights Collide Chapter 10

Estelle cleared her throat in an attempt to get their attention… and when no one moved nor looked up, she couldn’t help herself, she began to giggle….

“UUuumm, if you two are going to lay there for a while, I could get you a blanket..?”

Suddenly, as though they’d both just been stung by bees, Cara and Daniel fumbled around and struggled to remove themselves from each other, even managing to bump heads before just giving in and sitting on the floor.  Even then, they couldn’t even look at each other…

“Interesting” Estelle thought to herself watching her two visitors.

Estelle just stood looking from one to the other, with a smile on her face, hoping her inner laughter would remain silently inside herself.

Once they were settled on the floor, she asked, “are you two ok?  Do you need anything?”

Two heads snapped toward Estelle as though they’d just remembered her presence.

Estelle looked back at them now a little surprised “Now what did you expect..?  Y’are in my house after all!” she giggled as she shook her head and turned back, heading for the kitchen.

Cara was the first to find her voice, “the door, did you….uumm.. You know, secure it?”

Estelle stopped and looked back at Cara, “You mean did I place a seal of protection and blessing over it?, Yes, yes, I did.”

ESTELLE! Cara shouted in her mind, “we aren’t supp-”  But she was cut off when Daniel finally found his voice,

“A what of what? What are you two talking about?” Daniel snapped at them a little too aggressively.

Both women whipped around to look at Daniel and he was suddenly aware that he had managed to offend both women with his tone…

The voice of Other spoke up in his mind “Two for the price of one, you’re improving.”  Daniel flinched as he felt the twist of darkness flick within his mind, he shook his head trying to clear it away and absently spoke aloud… “What is wrong with me?”

Cara stood up now, still staring at Daniel, while talking with Estelle in her mind “We aren't supposed to talk about Divine natures with outsiders, remember?  And what IS wrong with him?”

Estelle came back to the entryway and looked at Daniel… then she looked at Cara and spoke aloud “I don't see anything wrong with him, and for goodness sakes honey, what do you think he’s here for?”

Daniel jumped to his feet and pretended to dust himself off, he glanced up in time to see both women staring at him, and his embarrassment began to flood with anger.

Doing his best to keep his anger down, he looked from one woman to the other and stated “There is nothing wrong with me, and I don’t know what it is you both seem to think I’m here for, but I’m done, I got places to be..”  and he headed for the door.

Cara whirled her head from looking at Daniel to looking helplessly at Estelle, she was about to ask Estelle to do something when Estelle spoke to Daniel..

“Mmmmhhmm, you go right on ahead young man, you walk out that door, that’s Fine.”

Cara thought that she might explode, all the thoughts and doubts and questions in her mind were too many and she couldn’t focus.

But she did notice that Daniel stood frozen in place with his hand almost to the doorknob, he just stood there, staring at his hand.

Then he turned and looked at Estelle, and from where Cara stood, it was almost like Daniel was trying to see through Estelle, or at least trying to see into her…

Daniel turned fully around now and looked at Estelle with eyes full of questions and confusion and asked Estelle “Just who in the hell are you?”

Estelle stood tall, and placing her hands on her hips, she looked Daniel squarely in his eyes, noticing his pain, she replied “We’ve covered this one already, my name is Estelle, and this is MY home.”

Cara noted that Daniel seemed to relax- just a little- as he replied “Yes ma’am, that part I know, but who are you really..?”

Cara looked to Estelle just as Estelle looked to Cara, and both women started to giggle… then Estelle looked at Daniel, “really, I’m a woman making coffee, come have a cup and I’ll tell you all you need to know.”

Estelle turned and continued into the kitchen with Cara following her footsteps, Daniel shrugged his shoulders and decided a coffee would taste real good right about now as he followed the women into the kitchen.

He watched in silence as Estelle and Cara worked together making coffee, preparing mugs. He may have been silent, but his mind was working overtime…

“What is going on here? Why have I not left yet?The guys are gonna be wondering if I got lost -  ‘Or lucky’” as the voice of Other spoke strongly in his mind, again he flinched, “What the fu  is that?” he wondered to himself as he shook his head and returned his attention to the sound of the coffeemaker and the women who were now staring at him, and intently.

Daniel sat bolt upright, startled that both women were looking at him so openly.  At first he looked behind himself thinking maybe they saw something he didn’t, but there was nothing there. He looked back at the women, who were now not only staring at him, but also stepping closer to him…

“Wha- um - what are you doing?” he asked them as he began to stand from the stool he’d been seated upon, “Are - um - are you ok?”

Cara continued to stare at him, startled, she asked “have you always been able to do that?”

Daniel quick looked around himself for whoever it was that she was talking to and when he realized she’d been talking to him, he froze, and as his eyes met Cara’s he asked aloud “Who?Me?, What - what do you mean?”

Cara continued to look at Daniel and while he noted that her lips never moved, he heard her speak clearly in his mind as she asked “have you always been able to talk to people like this?”

Daniel, so shocked at what had just happened, stood up so fast that the stool he’d been sitting on bounced across the floor.  He grabbed his head as though he thought he might burst, then rubbed his eyes and again stared at Cara.

“I- um- I think I better-um…” Daniel began to speak as he also seemed to be looking for something.   Cara stepped toward Daniel and placed her hand on his forearm, “Are you ok?” she asked while her face was full of concern for Daniel.

Daniel flinched his arm away from Cara’s touch, but not before memories of moments he had never experienced began to fill his mind, “What are you doing to me?” Daniel yelled at Cara, “What the actual fuck is going on?”

Cara flinched back away from Daniel as a vision of him slapping her formed in her mind. She felt the embarrassment of the sting even though he’d never lifted a finger toward her.

Estelle walked in between Cara and Daniel, breaking the flow of the energy between them…  she wasn’t quite sure what was going on either, but she did see the same vision that Cara had, and in no way was that shit going down under her roof.

She spoke calmly, “Daniel, we began to talk about this earlier, but we were interrupted, do you remember when I spoke of ‘awakening’ earlier?”

Daniel looked at Estelle, his eyes full of confusion, his mind feeling a bit blurry, “Aahh...yeah, I think I remember that word… what does it mean? And why do I feel like this- like I’m sobering up but I haven't drank anything?”

Estelle smiled, “I can explain everything.” she stated matter-of-factly as she took Daniel by the arm and led him to the dining room table.  She looked over her shoulder to Cara who still seemed to be in some kind of shock of her own and said “You finish up with the coffee tray and bring it over to us.?”  Cara slowly nodded her head as she watched them walk away.

Estelle and Daniel sat at the large, round oak dining table, making themselves comfortable in the high backed antique chairs, once she felt that they were settled, she looked at Daniel.  She could see him in a way that not many others could, she could see all of him, not just the man who sat across from her now, but also as he was as a boy and as a teenager.

Estelle also saw Daniel the way that God saw Daniel, from within.

Daniel raised his head and saw Estelle watching him “Why do you look at me like that? What is going on?” he asked in fear filled earnestness, and Estelle realized that he really had no idea, no one had ever told him anything about who he was born to be.

Estelle smiled at Daniel, “It's ok, I’ll answer all of your questions. You are safe here. What do you want to know first?”

Cara cautiously placed the tray filled with coffee mugs and cream and sugar dishes on the table, not only because she knew this table was special for Estelle and as such deserved respect, but also because she was scared that any sudden sound or movement might scare Daniel, and Cara was all too familiar with what a scared man can do when he is triggered.

Daniel nodded his head at Cara as she passed him a mug of coffee and sat down across the table from him and next to Estelle.  He took a sip of the strong, black liquid warmth and looked again to Estelle, “Ok, what is going on? I’m obviously missing something, please tell me.”

Estelle set her coffee mug upon the table, folded her hands in front of her and began…

“Daniel, I will answer all of your questions as best I can, as clearly as I can, but I need you to know that you have to be understanding and open minded of the answers you receive, do you understand?”

Daniel simply nodded, he didn’t know what he was about to hear, but he knew he would never be the same again.

Daniel held tightly to his coffee mug as Estelle began talking, and to her credit, she started at the beginning, right back at the word ‘Awakening’.

“Awakening, for us at least,” as she gestured toward Cara, “means becoming aware of being more than just what we’ve believed about ourselves our whole lives as humans.

Awakening is remembering abilities and talents that have been part of us our whole lives, abilities and talents that we never knew we had, and sometimes never even knew such things were possible.”

Daniel tipped his head to the right, listening to every word Estelle spoke, while randomly glancing at Cara who nodded her head along as Estelle spoke.

He was silent for a while before he asked “is that what was happening when we first arrived and I kept seeing the room differently each time I looked at it?

Estelle looked deeply into Daniel’s eyes, hoping that her ‘Sky Team’ would help her with the answers to help him understand without freaking him out…

but there was no Divine response given to her.

She took a deep breath “Daniel, have you ever experienced any type of God moment or Divine intervention?” Daniel just sat staring at her, blinking his eyes, and then looked at Cara “Is that like when I heard your voice in my head, but didn’t see your lips move?”

As Cara nodded her head to agree with his question, Estelle answered him “that is sort of what I meant, that is called telepathy, the ability to communicate with others using only the power of your mind, have you always been able to hear others like that?”

Daniel snickered as he shook his head “Ma’am, I never knew such a thing was possible, and now you’re telling me that I can do that - that I can talk to and hear people with only my mind? Well, I call bullshit!” Daniel stated matter-of-factly as he set his mug on the table.

Estelle shrugged “Ok, that's on you, but you asked, and I answered.”

He nodded as he began to push himself and his chair away from the table “Well ladies, it's been a slice, but I gotta go, places to go, people to see, you know” Daniel waved them off as he stood and headed for the door.

Cara opened her mouth to call after Daniel, to stop him, but Estelle raised her hand to silence Cara and without saying a word reminded Cara that the door was blessed and protected, which in their abilities and talents meant that he’d be back, because the door was locked, and by the power of God and All Divine, not just anyone could enter or exit without her blessing.

As Estelle raised her mug to enjoy another sip of her coffee, she relaxed back into her chair and waited for Daniel to come back and complain about the door…

But he didn’t come back to complain.

The only sound Estelle and Cara would hear was the sound of the slamming door as Daniel, true to his word, left the building.
