When Lights Collide Chapter 19

As Daniel hit the table, Estelle reached out and caught the coffee mug, slopping the remainder of the contents onto the floor.

Cara quickly crossed the room and while setting her own mug onto the table, she reached out to grab Daniel by the collar of his jacket to try and stop him from falling to the floor…

“Ugh.. he’s no lightweight.” Cara grunted as she tried to push him back in the chair.

“Hang on a minute, I’ll help.” Estelle jumped up and set the fallen mug onto the table, “let’s move him to the sofa,” Estelle suggested.

Cara, still struggling to hold onto Daniel, nodded in agreement.

Together the two women worked to get Daniel out of the chair, around the table and into the living room.

When they finally reached the sofa, the trio plopped down and just sat for a moment, the two of them catching their breath, the third, was out cold.

“You weren’t kidding about him not being a lightweight,” Estelle giggled as she took a final deep breath before getting up and assisting Cara in getting Daniel settled onto the couch.

“Is he ok?, shouldn’t we do something?” Cara asked, alarm and anxiety radiated from her as the heat does from the sun's rays.

“We are doing something,” Estelle stated, “and you, you need to calm yourself, child.”

Cara breathed a sigh of relief, “I know, I just, this guy freaks me out, and I don’t understand why.” Cara said thoughtfully, as though she hoped the answer would simply pop into her thoughts.

“I noticed,” Estelle replied with a giggle.

“You like him, don’t you?” Estelle asked, giving Cara a knowing look.

Cara’s head swivelled sharply in Estelle’s direction, “I ~ what? ~ no, I don’t even know him.” Cara exclaimed.

“Methinks the lady doth protest a bit too much..” Estelle commented absently with a smile as she reached for a blanket from the back of the couch and covered Daniel.

Estelle and Cara stood for a moment, watching Daniel, peacefully passed out on the couch, then turned to return to the dining room.  Cara grabbed a cloth and cleaned Daniel’s spilled coffee from the floor as Estelle poured each of them a fresh mug of coffee.

They seated themselves around the dining room table where they could see Daniel while they each sipped their cup of magic morning juice.

Cara was the first to speak,”what happened?, why’d he just pass out like that?”

“He had a rather big night,” Estelle responded, “not only was he affected by the energy of your home while he was there, he also spent the evening experiencing magic that was previously unknown and foreign to him, I’m surprised he lasted as long as he did.”

Cara nodded her head thoughtfully, “I’m surprised he even stayed.”

And then added, “but, we’re fine, a little tired, why is he having such a reaction?”

Estelle eyeballed Cara, “did you not see him glow? That boy, whatever it was he was doing after his Grams visited, opened a healing portal, the likes of which I have never seen come from within a human.”

Cara looked at Estelle from the corner of her eyes, “You don’t suppose he’s an alien, do you?”

Estelle giggled, “I’m guessing you don’t remember what happened the first time you participated in a healing?” she asked with a smirk.

Cara giggled in reply, “oh..  right, I’d almost forgotten about that,” she said with a roll of her eyes...  “That was quite a night.”

“Yes,” Estelle replied, “it was quite a night indeed, and you were only working on your own healing, whatever healing Daniel shared and experienced last night, it wasn’t just for himself.” She stated matter-of-factly.

Cara nodded, “I suppose, that’s true, I know I feel different, better almost, somehow” She said as her mind replayed the night she allowed Estelle to oversee her own healing.

Things she’d never realized she was carrying within her energy, within her body, moments from her childhood, all came rushing to the surface that night.

She yawned at the thought of it, catching herself and trying to cover her mouth, but Estelle saw it.

“Perhaps you should get some sleep too.  Perhaps we all should while sleeping beauty here rests,” Estelle shared with Cara,

“I’m going to go lie down for a bit, you can camp out on the love seat if you want.”

Cara looked thoughtfully at Estelle, “I have a few questions,” she said as memories came floating into her mind.

Estelle plopped herself back down in the chair, “what kinda questions sweetheart?”

Estelle was surprised, Cara didn’t often like to ask for help of any kind, she saw it as a sign of being weak, the result of a life filled with trauma and extreme independence.

Cara took a deep breath, unsure of where to start, she looked over at Daniel who looked to be blissfully unaware of the world around him, then returned her attention to Estelle and asked,

“How did you know to come get him from my house tonight? I mean, I think I know how, but why?” she looked back to Daniel and then back to Estelle,

“or maybe the better question is why, I don’t understand about him and his being here.”

Estelle took a deep breath, thinking back to the moments before she went out to find him the previous evening.  When she finally spoke, Cara jumped, as though she’d forgotten that she was waiting for Estelle to answer her.

“I was just clearing up from supper,” Estelle began, “when all of a sudden, my Guardians started jumping the way they do when they want my attention, then someone named Lily started speaking to me, begging me to find ‘her boy’.

I followed the information she was giving me, and before I knew it, I was standing in your backyard, staring at your back window.

The last thing she said to me was to be tough and strong with him, then I saw him on your window ledge ~ which you might want to get fixed by the way,” she added with a sternness to Cara.

Cara nodded “good point, I keep forgetting about that window.” She thought for a moment, “Lily, is that his Grams’ name?”

Estelle looked at Cara wide-eyed and surprised, “you mean to tell me you’ve been through a grand overnight adventure with this man, and you haven’t asked your Guardians about him?!” Estelle asked with a stern look of admonishment, “perhaps you should skip the nap and go straight into a connecting meditation, and start asking the big questions to your Guardians,” Estelle said as she stood and carried her coffee mug to the sink, before telling Cara, “I’m going to lie down, the love seat is yours, I’ll bring you an extra blanket and a pillow.”

Cara didn’t miss the look that Estelle gave her, and knew she deserved it, even though she wasn’t exactly sure when she had been supposed to have had time to check in with her crew, she knew regular connections with her Guardians was important and could easily answer all her questions.

Cara followed in Estelle’s steps, placed her mug in the sink, ran some water into it and turned to head over to the love seat located in the living room across from where Daniel now slept.

As Cara seated herself, and began to get comfy as Estelle appeared with a pillow and blanket, “try to get some sleep as well, I’ve a feeling we’re in for a huge day ahead.”

“Great,” Cara replied “because a huge last night wasn’t enough excitement,” with a roll of her eyes, both women laughed.

“Blessed Be my sister,” Estelle said as she headed to her own room, down the hall.

“Blessed Be Estelle,” Cara replied lovingly as she got into position for her connection meditation.

As she struggled to get comfortable enough to try and relax, Cara’s Guardians stirred and spoke to her, “just lie down child, you’re making this more difficult than it needs be.”

Cara, moving only her eyeballs, looked upward and replied “gee, thanks,” and with a smile on her face, she opened the blanket, fluffed the pillow, laid down and closed her eyes.

She hadn’t noticed Daniel smiling in his sleep.
